Stool (Handle) – Macrocarpa/Totara Sapling legs Top 420 mm X 230 mm , Height 330 mm

 This Macrocarpa seat  stool,  has totara legs. The seat was milled at Puhipuhi, Northland ,from trees grown as dairy shelterbelts . Some trees were up to 2.5m diameter.  The trees were slowly removed from most dairy farms as the  foliage could cause the cows to abort there calves in calving season. The legs are made from Totara saplings  that grow  wild from seeds  continually dropping on to dairy pasture & sprouting .  Without controlled thinning these saplings would take over the dairy pasture. No nails or screws were used to manufacture this stool.  Its finished with orange oil and teak wax.

There are no screws or nails used in the crafting of this furniture all joints are mortise & tenon.
