This Macrocarpa & Totara kids chair seat  stool,   is completely assembled with no screws or nails  & is a lifetime piece of furniture that can be passed on from generation to generation. The seat on the chair was milled at Puhipuhi, Northland ,from trees grown as dairy shelterbelts . Some trees were up to 2.5m diameter.  The trees were slowly removed from most dairy farms as the  foliage could cause the cows to abort their calves in calving season. The legs & frame is made from Totara saplings  that grow  wild from seeds  continually dropping on to dairy pasture from adjacent bush & sprouting sapplings .  Without controlled thinning these saplings would take over the dairy pasture.

This chair is finished with orange oil and teak wax.

There are no screws or nails used in the crafting of this chair all joints are mortise & tenon.

This one off hand crafted NZ made kids chair is another piece of functional art made in Pauls artisan workshop in Waipu,  Northland
